About Us
We are Susan and Grace, a mother-daughter duo that enjoys planning trips almost as much as taking them. We are proud Canadians living in Calgary, but we feel most at home when travelling. We are always working on our next itinerary.
Susan knows what it’s like to organize travel as a family with three kids, then three teenagers, now three adults (oh, and don’t forget the crazy family trips with grandparents too!). Susan realized early that getting the kids involved in travel planning makes for a more organized and fun trip – and yes, especially for Disney! Grace has slowly discovered the benefits of trip planning – your time away will be more enriching if you do some advance research!
We now plan all our trips together and it has become a real passion (obsession?). Although we love travelling with our group of two, we still take at least one family trip per year and so sometimes you’ll see pictures of the boys of the family (Al, Ben, and Noah).
Our itineraries have a balanced combination of top tourist sights and off-the-beaten-path hidden gems. Read on for more about our travel philosophy.
A wise person finds the best education in travelling
(Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)
On our way home from Poland, we had a long layover in the Frankfurt airport. We decided to go for breakfast in an airport cafe and saw this quote by the famed German author Goethe written on the wall. This inspired us to start this blog and share our love of travel with others.
We believe the most important part of travel is connecting with the destination’s history and culture. Understanding the past helps to explain the present and as far as churches and castles go, where we’re concerned, there is always more to see!
You can sleep when you’re dead
We travel to learn and we have also learned to travel. We try to fit in as much as we can on our trips by taking advantage of early mornings and late nights. Our trips are not for the faint of heart, but our plans always ensure we allow enough time at each sight without rushing.
As Susan’s mother/Grace’s grandmother always reminds us: you can sleep when you’re dead. This has become our travel motto, although we will always stop for cake or spend a day walking the beach!
